I made this video as a tribute to all the men who served in E Company (Long Range Patrol) 20th Infantry (Airborne) AND/OR C Co (Ranger) 75th Infantry (Airborne), First Field Force Vietnam which operated from Sep 1967-Oct 1971. To visit the units web site go to:

The 230 man Army LRP unit was formed to take the place of Det B-50, Project Omega when it was reassigned back to Special Forces in Nov 1967. Our mission was Strategic Recon at a corp level and we generally operated in 4-6 man teams.
At 2:13 Honorable Mention for SGT David Dolby (MOH) 5th man on right side of flag who was awarded the MOH on his first tour with the 1st Cavalry Div.
David C. Dolby (MOH) passed away on Aug 6, 2010. He was 64 years old. David Dolby distinguished himself conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty. Some of his other awards: Silver Star, Purple Heart, Vietnamese Gallantry Cross with Gold Star.
I had the honor of knowing David Dolby (MOH) who received the MOH for his actions on May 21, 1966 during his first tour with the 1st Cavalry Division 65-66. In 1967 he served with the 1st Brigade 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam and was later sent to Washington, DC where he was presented the MOH on September 28, 1967. Then Dave requested to return to Vietnam and was told not no but hell no, But Dave, also known as "Maddog" did not like being no poster boy for the Army.
In 1969 he returned to Vietnam and when he got in country he called our unit, C Company (Ranger) 75th Infantry (Airborne), First Field Force Vietnam and the Commander had his orders cut and so he spent 69-70 there. In 1970 he went to a South Vietnamese Ranger unit as an Adviser. In 1971 he was an Adviser for the Royal Cambodian Army. After serving 5 tours in Vietnam he returned to the States where he was discharged

"RANGERS LEAD THE WAY"
coprhead6, I have gotten a couple messages from my war buddy who served the same time your Dad did....And I have talked to other men who served with him and they all had nothing but good things to say about him.....Since I was the first Unit Historian, I have so many names that I have come across, sometimes I need to be reminded. He spent his whole tour in the unit instead of doing 6 mo support....You Should be proud of him....He was a soldier not a politician
