hoopa hillclimb 2007, day 1, turn 9

2.2 miles of switchbacks and blind corners along a closed section of paved roadway in Humboldt County = extremely fun! 1st day runs. I was in the stock evo w/street tires. I need more practice time on this hill, the other guys/gals made it look too easy.

In the video there is are a few porsches, a nicely modded subaru rs, a crx with a b16 swap, a 400?hp rx7, a miata, a lotus, a corvette, a v8 swapped 240z (last years king of hill) etc.. At the event were tons of other cool cars I couldn't catch on film ranging from badass street cars with swaps and turbos to full blown race cars.

i'm originally from nor cal but never really heard much about this. are there qualifying events in order to participate in this event? is it a certain club that does this? i saw you added this in july 07, so every year in july.

how many laps is there and about how long does the race take to complete from start to finish? is it just a 1 day thing or multiple races?

I believe Redwood Sports Car Club is the club, they have a web site and all the info on there. Once a year, 2 days, and I think 4 runs. No qualifiying, first 60 applicants get to run.

my dad was in the 2003 Hoopa HillClimb. He had the 1968 Spitfire with the 327. 3rd fastest. But there was that 1 Corvette, the black one. He also participated in Autocross at Samoa by the beach. Ahhh.. god times

Oh, and BTW, there's no Lotus Elise in that vid. There is, however, a Lotus Exige.

I live in Hoopa, the road seems impressive in videos, but not so much when I drive it...

anyway, I hope the 2009 event doesn't get snowed out...
