the clicker is just a "clear" understanding. You can use other methods to assossiate with something they like (FOOD).

do all lovebirds need to use a clicker or can they be trained well without one! Like can u just say a command and then they like do the trick for a treat without the clicker??

why do people use clickers? do lovebirds like it? or do you just use it and help them? or does it do something to them? please tell me.

they use clickers because that way the bird learns to associate that sound with a treat and is willing to perfrom the specific trick you are teaching it.
