After watching the video a few times, I'm guessing that immediately after firing your rocket, you detonate it with secondary, and it gives you a boost?

You can detonate with your secondary fire OR, shoot the ground / ledge. This is a 2.3 run where the rocket could be instantly detonated and allow the player to 'fly' if properly controlled.
In 2.4 this was changed to 0.2 so it'd be better to shoot the ground.
