From my favorite of his LP's "Isle Of View" not a bad track onit. His later albums are very good, but just not in the same ballpark, IMO.

  • You haven't downloaded from itunes before? It's pretty basic.. That's your best bet ...

Convert to MP3 or wav and burn to disc...but if you love the song that much I will say without hesitation that you should definitely get it... the whole album is great. He has a lot of other really good albums, too... but to my ears this one is alone in it's own world . It's the best he did, IMO.... there's nothing else like it anywhere.

  • I'm not aware of it being on CD but you-can- get the whole album from itunes, that's where I first got it.

  • OMFG!! I just found this album in buried in a closet on my third floor!

    Awesome! Thanks for this!

I used to listen to the underground radio stations just prayin' they'd spin anything from this album.

  • Glad you found it... it's a classic. I think it's his best...

  • I've reached this song (and album) on the back of bands like Midlake citing it as a huge influence. I have to say that as good as "The Trials of Van Occupanther" is - and it is one of my favourite albums of the last 5 years - this song is just sublime and beats it hands down. I really rate a Leeds based band called Fossill Collective that are making beautiful music in a similar style, "On and On" may interest anyone interested in a new band (hopefully) on the rise making a well educated sound.

  • I swapped Bowie's Man how sold the world to get the IOV album back in the 70s. It was the original Ltd release and is now worth a few £s. Still rather have Jimmie's album!

Can't find any covers of his songs on the tube! Will have to warm up some of my oldies and have a go!

  • Jimmie was my first concert in the early 80's in Norman ok....at the Boomer theater. Still remember it well. Amazing artist that gives goosebumps...it's so real

  • This always one of my favs ...

  • Is there anyone else that remembers seeing h at the Armadillo in Austin? I was a kid, it was magical - think I cried a little, and maybe peed myself, when he sang this live

  • I've got all his stuff on CD/MP3, but there's nothing like the vinyls my mom gave me. Good taste is hereditary :)

  • such an awesome musician...frickin motorcycles....

  • I know exactly where my album of this is.....loved it when I first bought and love it still.

  • It's great to hear Jimmie's haunting songs again. If you like this sort of heartfelt, slightly ethereal singer/songwriter music, I suggest you check out Holcombe Waller's Into the Dark Unknown album. Waller is a dreamy troubadour in the Spheeris tradition.
