Why couldn't Gandolph just take more pinecones and turn them into balls of light that would freeze the enemy and make them disappear? And even after the fire started, why couldn't he just use his magic to get rid of the fire?

@IAMARATEL I dunno.. They showed that the misty mountain song was in it at least, perhaps he will include the rest?

The wargs must have strong backs to be able to support those fat goblins.

I have to say the goblins singing adds a depth to their character that Jackson's films have to this point failed to capture.

@IAMARATEL yeah, I meant the scene in general, the company being chased into trees by the goblins and having the eagles save them

@sixpointneuf I know it's an old comment but I still wanted to comment. Anyway I doubt this would be in the Peter Jackson film (even though the song actually was in the book). And if do add it, people would probably just complain about it.

The animation of this movie is beautiful. It's sad that over 30 years later, the quality of animation has departed from things like this... I say departed instead of 'lessened' because in many ways current animation is superior, but never really gets the same feel animation of this era had. The songs however, are the best part. I'v heard variations of the music from the books in plays, audio books, and whatnot... But this movies version is the only one I think of when reading the books.
