Golden Gate Park is more than a history of hard and inventive work to plant trees in a treeless, windswept environment. It is more than a history of the struggles of those who sought a bucolic park against those who had sought to locate massive building projects in a large convenient location. The construction of Golden Gate Park creates a myth of what San Francisco might be have been had the city never been built - it's implied, garden of Eden.
