Ground zero of the massive storm - My brother and I shot a few homemade clips of our historic Bay Saint Louis to show how the old southern town survived, rebuilt and even triumphed in the shadow of the worst natural disaster to ever hit the United States.

A large portion of the city was washed completely away. Much of what you see here was gutted and had to be skillfully re-furbished.

This video may not appeal to many but is humbly dedicated to all those dispersed persons who have ever called the 'Bay' home. It is in thanks to all of the volunteers and good people who came here after the storm with the hope that they could make a difference - you succeeded beyond your most optimistic dreams... Your efforts have profoundly changed us all and will never be forgotten - we are forever in your debt...

  • I am so homesick . This is a beautiful video. Our house was in Lakeshore and we didn't rebuild.

  • @alecatte3

Thanks alecatte. I actually live in Lakeshore as well. My house was swept completely away. I was very fortunate to be able to rebuild. I will make sure to include some footage of the area in one of my next projects.

  • Thank you for taking the time to do this. I am from Pascagoula, MS and my parents suffered a great loss. I remember the days of clean-up and emotional recovery. This brought tears to my eyes as I remember this tragedy and am in the midst of helping my own community now in Tennessee with the Red Cross after the massive tornadoes that tore through here. Thank you and God bless!

  • @Derrille

Thanks so much. My brother and I both lost our homes in the storm. Our parents' home was flooded and had to be repaired as was our sisters. I hope your mother and father have made a full recovery. Keep up all the good work that you do. We're all thinking about you after this latest tragedy.

  • I grew up in Waveland. This video does a great job of capturing the beauty of the "Bay" area. I am thankful for the time I spent there.

  • Thank you so much....I lived in the Bay for many years and my brother and sister-in-law were living in Waveland....they lost everything as did I. I'm sitting here right now with tears in my eyes from watching this. No matter what ever happens I will always be proud to have called Bay St. Louis my home for 20 years....and I one day hope to be able to live there again!!!! May God bless you and again thank you for posting this beautiful video!!!!

  • That is a beautiful video. I mean I never been to your town before and I was choked up watching it.

  • Such a simple video but it beautifully captures the heart and soul of the people and the place.

Living in Australia and having suffered through our own tragic floods earlier this year I would like to pass on my solidarity to the community.

Compared to your NASA videos, this seems to juxtapose the best (and worst) of what the US and we as a people are capable of.

Thank you for the time and effort.

  • Very Nice
