-- Kit Yan, a queer and transgender Asian American who was featured in the HBO documentary Asians Aloud. Originally from Hawai`i, his work inspires with touching love poems, coming out stories, and comedic tales of his childhood. New York Magazine describes his art as "knockout spoken-word" while Curve magazine calls it "incredible slam poetry." Kit's work has been taught at universities all over the world from Singapore to San Francisco State to Harvard.
-- An official qualifier for the 2011-2012 HawaiiSlam season. Normal slam rules apply, and the top two poets will advance to the 2012 Grand Slam Finals (on April 5th, 2012) that will determine HawaiiSlam's 9th National Poetry Slam team.
