Original 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard (with NO pedals) straight into a 1989 Trainwreck Express amp. Playing excerpts from Glen Kuykendall's own "Can You Hear It Ring?" CD and other bluesy improv. Pardon the intro run, later I realized I was totally in the wrong fretboard position which was making it much trickier! Oh well, luckily it's MUCH cleaner on my CD and Myspace clips. Mostly though, this video is improvised stuff to demo the gear and range of tones by simply working the guitar knobs and playing dynamics. I'm now also offering ONLINE guitar lessons via a SKYPE connection, more information on my webpage.

  • Are u running straight in? What speakers are in that cab? Im assuming everything in the LP is original?

  • Yes plugged straight in, all gain and tones changes via the guitar knobs and toggle switch. Speakers are original G12M greenback 25s from '71. The PAF pickups in my guitar came from a late 50's ES175, but are basically the same type and period of pickup just a different set than the actual originals were. Caps, pots, and wiring are exact originals to the guitar.

  • that tone is completely AWESOME.

  • Thanks, that was the point!

  • Hey glen! I was wondering what you used to film and record this? it sounds amazing!

  • The video was done with an old Sony miniDVD recorder, however I didn't use the camera audio. For that it was two Sennheiser e906 mics (one centered, one on the cone edge), into API mic pres (3124+), an RME Fireface 800 interface, into Sonar recording software. I also had a room mic or two, being either a Neumann KM184 or U67, but the room is totally dead and the room mics were a very small part of the blend. I used Sony Vegas video software to combine the separate video and audio feeds.

  • @FlipsidesBand Agreed. A little too much gain.

  • wow. sounds incredible

  • terrible shirt, but I would wear it any time in exchange for the LP and amp

  • Ok I am not gonna say any thing.

  • @Neylus You got about 30 grand? ;)

  • @GlenKuykendall Awesome. I cant understand the price of these amps though. You have a small gold mine in that room between the amp and LP lol
