At First Sight: Part 3

Jocelyns POV

We all went to dinner in the city that night. I had a pretty fun time with David and Desiree. I really missed David. He was easy to talk to and one of my best friends. Me and Desiree stayed in the city until Sunday. We were leaving and saying our goodbyes, and I could tell Desiree was having a really hard time. They hugged for about 10 minutes and I could see her holding back tears. I gave David a hug too before we had to go. As soon as we got in the car Desiree started crying. I was surprised she usually held back her tears, but not this time. I didnt say anything because I knew there was nothing TO say. She cried for about 20 minutes, quietly, but then she seemed to be better.
Jocelyn: All set?
Desiree: Yeah.
I turned the radio up a little more to make the car ride less depressing.
" Once again folks we have 2 Jonas Brothers tickets for their last show in New Jersey! Along with 2 meet and greet passes! Call now!"
Desiree handed me her phone.
Jocelyn: No, its fine.
Desiree took a deep breath and let it out.
Desiree: Fine, then I'll call.
Jocelyn: Desiree don't, it's fine.
Desiree: No it's not. You're miserable, you're absolutely miserable without him. Ever since the day he left, you've never been the same. It's been YEARS, and you haven't moved on. You haven't even had a boyfriend yet because of him. If you can't get over him, then you need to make it work. Now call or I will.
I was a little mad. I knew all of it was true, I just didn't like hearing it from another person. Especially my best friend. Was it really that bad? Did I show the sadness I thought I held in all the time?
Jocelyn: Fine, you call.
She sucked her teeth at me.
Desiree: Fine, I will.
She started dialing.
Desiree: Hello?..Yeah about the tickets...ohh ok..well thank you..bye.
I didn't say anything.
Desiree: Nothing. But I guess they're giving away the last 2 tickets and meet and greet passes at about 7 tonight. Call then.
Jocelyn: Whatever.
I was still mad about what she said. I never liked hearing things like that, things that you can't argue are wrong, because you know they're so right.
Desiree: Well don't be all mad at me now. Geez.
Jocelyn: I'm not mad! I'm fine. Just let it go.
She rolled her eyes and leaned her head against the window. I finally pulled up at her house to drop her off.
Desiree: Thanks.
Jocelyn: Yup.
She started to walk away and then turned back.
Desiree: Please call again. Tonight.
I couldn't help but smile a little.
Jocelyn: I honestly don't think it's a good idea.
Desiree: Why wouldn't it be?
Jocelyn: We were so young. He's had other girlfriends, he obviously doesn't feel the same that I do.
Desiree: Well it's worth a shot. I'm gonna try to call too.
I smiled and shook my head.
Jocelyn: Ok. Well I'll see you tomorrow.
I started driving back to my house. It was around 6 and I had school tomorrow, so I decided to unpack now since I knew I would be way too exhausted to do it later. I decided to keep my radio on again and try to call. I was so nervous, my hands were sweating and shaking as I was putting clothes away. It was about 645 and I heard the announcer guy again for the tickets. I dialed right away and heard the guy pick up.
Radio Guy: Hellooo! Now who is this?!
Jocelyn: Uhh I'm Jocelyn.
Radio Guy: Well Jocelyn, you were so close caller number 21! We were looking for 20. Better luck next time! Thanks for calling!
And that was it. My last chance to see him or meet him. I couldn't believe it. For some reason I had such a feeling of certainty that I would win. I knew it was stupid to have thought like that. There had to have been tons of girls calling to win. I mean what were the odds?
