Yeah that remix is called Maximum Spell. I have that also somewhere, but I'm not a fan of Euro style & I bought that record for the dub mix, which was kinda forced on me by Steve Luigi (who had remixed it & was plugging it when I was buying some records from his shop :D )

This is the original m8. There is only one mix of Cast a Spell on this record.

The remixes came out about a year later.

Which one are you refering to anyway? The Euro mix or the Dub?

They don't make like this anymore! Might have to dust off the 1210's... Todays dance music is recycled 90's that was already recycled! I had this on vinyl but left it in my escort on the parcel shelf on a hot and it melted.... oops

@retroactiveoldskool i come from the South East too that's very true when it comes to stuff like pianoman and this certain type of sound but the piano was still often a big part of the London/South East breakbeat/hardcore tunes whether through a sample or in the breakdown. And of course stuff like Congress was massive all over England.

@ancientraver19881989 yes you're right - i was told that this had Chaka Khan on it but listening more closely it does sound like Whitney Houston. On the early hardcore tip its 'Lamborghini' and '£10 To Get In' you want to look out for if you don't already have them - '5,6,7,8' is on more of a hiphop/housier thing and there's 2 versions 1 with the 'I Want To Dance With Somebody ' sample and one without it was the first one that was a monster around the M25 in 1989.

@ancientraver19881989 Cool I will see if I can find it and have a listen, but this is definitely Whitney they sampled for this, I can tell her voice a mile off and anyway her ad-libs are different to Chaka's so actually if you listen to them both you can which one the vocals came from.

@soundseeker63 its the Chaka Khan version of 'I'm Every Woman' ps but talking about Whitney Houston she was being sampled on bangin tunes as early as 1989 on '5,6,7,8' by Shut Up And Dance - who were making actual breakbeat hardcore as early as the late 80s! always used to think that stuff like 'Mr Kirk's Nightmare' from 1990 was the earliest hardcore ps dont know why ive put all that on here!
