I'm not sure how much of the original engine was used. It was badly damaged from oil starvation and the insides were blue from heat when they took it apart. Engine failure caused the crash. They located and used a total of six core engines for parts to build the BMW 801.

@FiveCentsPlease By that, I meant that at least it is not on display, not flying. Anyway, thanks for the information, sir. I hope you help many other information seekers like me!

Technically FHC is a museum, but many (not all) of the planes are regularly flown.
-
@FiveCentsPlease At least it isn't in some museum.

The Flying Heritage Collection pampers their airplanes, and they are only exercised a few times a year with a conservative flight display at the museum. So this Fw190 is in good hands along with the other aircraft.
-
@FiveCentsPlease No, kidding? I hope that they never put this in a museum for viewing. Just like the Ki-43 with its original engine, and the TA-152 with its original engine. Those were put in museums.... I hope that this Focke-Wulf keeps flying on.

This is the ONLY airworthy restored WWII original Fw190 and it has an actual BMW 801. This was a very high quality restoration to exact original condition, and this museum re-manufactures original parts when needed. One or two other WWII original Fw190s are still being restored and I know one of those will be airworthy. The other examples are not restored originals and come from a new production run of 21 replica aircraft with the Russian/Chinese radials.

Is it the actual original BMW 801 radial? Or is is some Russian radial like most of the restored ones have?
Paul Allen's Flying Heritage Collection (owner of this 190) has just received the world's only flying IL2 Sturmovik. It will be flying this summer!

This is the actual engine as found with the plane when it was recovered. The only flying BMW801 in the world. Yes, a lot of 190 repros use Russian radials.
