The Comprehensive Response to Terrorism
Fighting terrorism requires strong coordination between local and international law enforcement agencies and intelligence networks.
1) Is there adequate coordination between national and international agencies to identify and eliminate terrorist cells?
2) How can conditions be attained that reduce the motivation behind terrorism and deny terrorists new recruits? What are the global institutions that need to be involved to make this happen?
3) Are Western societies prepared to accept further trade-offs between security and individual liberties?
Shaukat Aziz, Prime Minister of Pakistan
David Cameron, Leader of the Conservative Party, United Kingdom
Michael Chertoff, US Secretary of Homeland Security
Gijs M. de Vries, Counter-terrorism Coordinator, Council of the European Union, Brussels
Moderated by
David Rothkopf, President and Chief Executive Officer, Garten Rothkopf, USA

  • Islam does NOT call for violence; rather it abhors all forms of violence and terrorism, whether against Muslims or non-Muslims. Islam, moreover, calls for peace, cooperation, and maintaining justice, and provides for the happiness and welfare of humanity as a whole.

Allah says in the Quran: Allah commands doing justice, doing good to others, and giving to near relatives, and He forbids indecency, wickedness, and rebellion: He admonishes you so that you may take heed. (Soorah An-Nahl 16:90)
