I saw him a month ago. I take mauy thai at one of his acadamy's I want to take bjj next
-
@LiTTleLaNNigan where you from? what state?
-
he is spot on with jiu jitsu being a good add on to other arts. especially with karate, i think, jiu jitsu is an excellent art to compliment it. those too go great together.

@EthernalExhile Plus - most pressure point have motor-function effects on your body you don't count on. Having a thumb in your armpit causes your arm to stiffen, whether you like it or not. Your head will ALWAYS automatically go up when you get a thumb in your throat, exposing you to chokes.
Why do you think the moves are illegal if they are so easy to avoid? Shit hurts man, trust.
Jiu Jitsu is still the best IMO but Judo guys are vicious.
-
@EthernalExhile Do you think Judo guys can't defend? Dude just try roll with a Judo black belt. Let them roll with you non-competition style and feel the pain you - at this point - can't even imagine. I've had a Kimura put on me that busted my shoulder for 2 months and that wasn't as painful while it was being done as having a good Judo guy jam his thumb in my throat or armpit.
Simple fact - when you're in EXTREME pain the last thing you're thinking of is trying to submit.
You just want out.
-
@VomitShovel mhh okay i dont think that will really work against someone that does jiu jitsu, once you try to pinch those "soft" points you will most likely get submitted when you try doing it
-
@EthernalExhile "tender" spots on your body such as your armpits, your throat, inside of your elbow and knee - Any spot that when pressure is applied, causes extreme pain. I'm generalizing a lot, but competition Jiu Jitsu tends to leave those things out, focusing more on leverage and locks.
Pressure points is a general term for your soft bits and reactionary tendons.
-
@VomitShovel what do you mean pressure points?
-
Pedro is the man.
So im thinking about taking up MMA but focusing on BJJ. Is that the best way to go?

@LiTTleLaNNigan If you want to get GOOD at jiu jitsu, do JIU JITSU. If your goal is to compete in MMA, find an MMA school. BJJ teachers are good at BJJ for a reason. Many black belts will often tell you "focus on one thing first and them make your jump later to mma."
