So I HAVE A ECU PROBLEM....for my 1986 Mitsubishi Starion stock, after getting a new O2 sensor, i can't produce boost from the turbo, only 0psi. is it the ECU not reading it and is on a safety mode? how to reset such a ECU?

My car wouldnt start the injectors were not firing but they were working everything was working but the injectors so i changed the ignition coil but no luck. after a lot of f@#%ing around i decided to see how to reset the computer. All i did was turn ignition on & pulled the ecm fuse out put it back in & it started sweeeet. A mechanic would have charged $100's

Ecm in compton is every cops misery its like a gang n shit wich is ghetto lol juzt saying

in case of a hondas.. OBD1 ecm (before 1996)... its best to heat up the engine... then do the disconnect then idle 15 minutes or at least until the radiator fan turns on twice and important without touching any electrical device as much less the acelerator pedal... then turn off and it records values --- then after a few runs (days/weeks depending on how may start stop cycles take place) it will start to make final adjustments

@rustyfan022000 Got the problem sorted out awhile back it was a solinoid valve in the gearbox that was faulty (if I remember right) causing the the car to shunt. think it was found with a T2 test (unsure)...
I think doing it right would get you better MPG. Buy an MAP sensor on Ebay or something...

That could be, but first you have to determine if any electronics are needed.
I know some people who have spent lots of money on electronics that they did not need.
Thats why I am doing my testing step by step - to see what is needed and what is not for my particular vehicle.
I wish it was simple, but its not.

I have a 97 Ranger. Which method worked for you?

I did a combination of things. Seems that disconnecting the battery positive & neg wires, then holding them together, and then pulling the ecm/ecu fuses, seems to work (not 100% sure tho).
Of course thats the problem with this ecu thing - there is no indicator or light that says "your ecm is now reset".

some people have found they are needed, but others have not.
IOW more testing is needed to see if what is needed for each make & model.
