I remember my mom doing something similar to this, when I took candy from a convenience store. I have never thought about stealing since.

@sperbunki I won't because I don't know you, but you see it just might give people the impression she's a thief such as her future employers, for example if she were to work at this Kmart store in the future- I just throwing out it out there-.. Happy Holidays to you and your family.

REALLY MAN? lololololololol, not only do people have an epic whinge about learning some common sense and a bit of discipline nowadays but theyre growing amazingly stupid as well.... i fear for the future of mankind! the latest generations reek of retards...

@catbob15 Right, because you're going to recognize her on the street?

That was proper parenting. By stating "going to jail" it is not about the actual going to jail to be concerned with because, of course, the little girl is not going to jail, it is about consequences for actions. Stealing is a crime and the mom is trying to teach her daughter that which is the right thing to do. Sure the mom could have ignored the .53 cents but then she condones theft. A parent involved in teaching wrong from right, and I see the criticisms posted, parent's can't win.

@assemblyguy - Exactly. I read (insert whatever-his-name-was) comments and I didn't feel the need to interject a comment on (clearly) someone who does not value teaching children that there are consequences. If someone with poor grammar wants to call me a bad parent, then so-be-it, but it beats raising her to be a spoild rotten brat who gets what she wants and never gets punished. She hasn't stolen since and has actually done more "chores" to EARN money for things like 53 cent lollipops. Win-win

Mabee she should go Visit jail to see what it is like and mabee she will learn a lesson

@MrSpanglersean - She has learned her lesson for now. I agree, even though according to goalex "your so frekin dumb loser" (speaking of dumb, let's go back to 10th grade and learn a little spelling and grammar please!) - if my children have poor behavior when they are older, I would be just the type of parent who would have them go visit a jail and see the "type" of people there and where their behavior may lead. (***may***) I'm not saying all rowdy teens turn into criminals, just *may*
