@wispa1a Probably, yeah. Roger Waters loved long instrumental pieces because apprently he felt that it made the show more theatrical (and more interesting.)
Gilmour probably loved writing instrumental pieces because it gave him the option of a cool solo :D
@wispa1a Gilmour and Mason were inveited to play be Waters himself. What is this prejudice against David Gilmour and where does it ocme from? Sure, Waters is the best lyricist Floyd ever had, but he would have gotten nowhere if it were not for the great guitar talent of Gilmour, who effectively saved the band from disintegration in 1968 when Syd Barrett was sadly rendered unable to continue. Pink Floyd needed that 4th man, and Gimour was the perfect man for the job :)
@assemblyguy While it absolutely is your right to say and think just that, if you are at all open to advice then that is a choice that should be made from experience.
I *used* to think exactly the same, especially with such a group as the Floyd.
I am happy to admit I was wrong, very wrong. The enjoyment I get from seeing / experiencing these guys is just huge. After 60+ times that still goes.
You *may* just be missing out on something that you would enjoy.
I just watched this song from Brit Floyd and then this one and I think Brit Floyd does it just a little better. Just my humble opinion though.

They sound just like Pink Floyd, but the whole time I was watching this I was just thinking why does this band exist?
