I saw the movie! They have the song at the closing! Closed my eyes and was lost into something eternal.... so divine.... putting the experience into words would be an injustice! I had tears flowing through my eyes! Its just some feeling .... kind of desire, longing to be held by your beloved who is leaving you and you can't do anything but just let him go... let it be!

Dear bkulhalli1,
To find truth in my previous comment, kindly listen to her Chhota khyal in Raag Bhoopali ---------"Sahelare", which is representative of the best of the legendary Smt. Kishori Amonkar. I will be glad to know your feelings on comparison of the two.............. Dr V R Chitguppi

@vchitguppi Thank u Dr. That answers my below question appropriately. I had thought Jyoti Kalash and this song were the same raag because of the similar notes. This is indeed Bhupali.....But why do u say that it is not one of Kishori's best. I thought she has done very well - especially the antara.

This is from the movie DRISHTI. A 1990 movie staring Dimple Kapadia, Shekhar Kapur. Beautiful movie. The song "Jyoti Kalash" comes to mind when u here this song...possibly cause its the same Raag.
I'd also like to know which Raag this is.
This song is based on Raag Bhupali. Some think it sounds like 'Jyoth kalash chhalake'. But that song is based on Raag Deshkar which has the same notes, but applied differently. Honestly, this song is not of Amonkar's usual divine high quality. Dr V R Chitguppi

there are songs which go much deeper than your mind or heart.....they reach your soul and remain there forever. It is one such gem.....
