Funny Car driver Scott Kalitta, 46, died from multiple injuries suffered after his car went out of control and crashed in a high-speed racing accident at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park during the fourth and final round of qualifying at the Lucas Oil NHRA SuperNationals.

Kalitta, a two-time NHRA POWERade Series Top Fuel champion and one of only 14 drivers in NHRA history to earn victories in both premier nitro categories, earned 18 victories during his career, his last coming in Chicago in 2005 in Top Fuel.

  • God speed scott. You will forever be mised

  • all race car drivers have to know and expet the fact that what we do is dangeres and we take a risk when we fire up the car. we do what we do becas we love it thay cant put it in you and thay cant take it out. RIP Scott i only hope i well go doing what i enjoy

  • I don't watch NHRA a whole lot but so I didn't really know about this. When I do watch I was a big fan of Scott Kalitta. I pretty much just found out he died. The world of NHRA will not be the same without his racing and attitude. The rest of the family including Doug and Connie should be proud to have had him for as long as they did.

  • The part at 00:05 seeing Connie staring down

    at the track.

What must be going through his mind.

    A father losing a son.

    God is with you Connie.

God has prepared a special place for Scott.

    Scott is finally going home.

    He will be missed.
