Cutting thin sheet glass is almost as easy as it looks in this video clip...but not quite! Curves really are much trickier than straight lines. The process shown would have been completely familiar to medieval window glaziers.

  • Hi how can I cut 10mm glass on fish tank ?

  • I tried a glass cutter on a 66x44 vanity and destroyed it! It was thick glass and whenever I tried to snap it, a crack ran across the glass! Screwed up the whole piece! DON'T try cutting thick big sheets of glass! I am so mad now...These videos are for thin glass only!

  • It looks so easy when you do it.

  • both hardened steel and carbide wheel cutters work great, the carbide stays sharp longer. Though you can theoretically make a nice scratch (thats what all these tools are doing) witha diamond knife or file, it is a less controllable process. It sounds like from your descrioption that you are usign a dull tool. A new wheel cutter should, with moderate pressure, create a smooth, small, unchipped scratch. adding a cuting fluid, even kerosene, will helpminimize scratching.
