China disputes US human rights record2010-03-12 18:56 BJT
China is retorting US criticism by publishing its own report on America's human rights record. This is the 11th consecutive year that China issued a human rights dissertation on the US. The documents rebuts Washington's annual analysis, so that the people around the world will understand true picture of human rights in the United States.
The Information Office of the State Council says that, as in previous years, the US Human Rights Report "turns a blind eye to, or dodges, and even covers up rampant abuses on its own territory."
Statistics show that violent crimes pose threats to the lives, property, and personal security of the American people. The rate remains high. The US also ranks first in the world in the number of privately-owned guns.
Certain accounts show that abuse of power is common among US law enforcement officers.
Other sources points out that the basic rights of prisoners are not well protected. And in some cases, chaotic management of detention facilities have led to widespread outbreaks of diseases among inmates.
The report says the term "Freedom of the Press" is, in fact, completely subordinate to its national interests, and often manipulated by the US government.
The 2009 unemployment rate in the country was the highest in 26 years. More people are living in poverty than in the previous decade.
The report adds that racial prejudice in law enforcement and the judicial system has also occurred, while discrimination against Muslims is increasing as well. Some immigrants live in misery, and ethnic hate crimes are not uncommon.
As the world's biggest arms seller, US deals has been fueling great instability across the globe. The report quoted a US Congress report as saying that its 2008 foreign weapons sales figures soared to 37.8 billion dollars from a year earlier, up nearly 50 percent. That accounts for more than 68 percent of all global arms deals.
Some analysts believe these figures show "the US not only has a bad domestic human rights record, but also is a major source of many human rights disasters around the world."
China is advising the US government to "draw lessons from history, put itself in a correct position, strive to improve its own human rights conditions, and rectify its acts in the human rights field."

Moscow hits back at US human rights accusations
Published 12 March, 2010, 18:24
The Russian Foreign Ministry has fiercely criticized the US State Department report on Human Rights and suggested that they comment on tortures and humiliation within their own country.
The State Department annual survey on human rights, issued Thursday, blamed Russia for corruption in law enforcement, weakened freedom of expression and media independence and said 2009 was marked by numerous reports of governmental and societal human rights problems and abuses. It also said local government and insurgents in Russias Caucasus were reportedly engaged in killings, torture, abuse, violence, politically-motivated abductions, and other brutal or humiliating treatment.
The Russian Foreign Ministry reacted the very next day, having carefully read the report, and published a statement on its official website.
"Everything in the report is traditional and even habitual: approaches, theses, conclusions, and informers, it reads. In this respect we have not noticed any significant difference despite the reset in our relations declared by the current Administration," the site asserts.
According to the Russian side, it is no secret that the idea of this opus is first of all to solve internal problems of the US establishment by using the delicate matter of human rights to build the necessary political framework for pursuing very concrete material foreign-policy interests.
The Foreign Ministry welcomed the State Departments intention, announced earlier, to publish a report on the human rights situation in the US, and said they were hoping that both facts and criticism would be reflected in that survey.
For instance, it would be interesting to see how the bodycomments on tortures, [and the] inhumane and humiliating attitude to people in the USA, the statement said. We hope they will not forget about domestic violence that leads to killings of children including those adopted in Russia cases of racism and xenophobia towards immigrants, Islamophobia, privacy violation by secret services and restrictions imposed on journalists covering US operations abroad.
Finally, the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed hope that the American report will recommend introducing the institution of ombudsman in the US and the joining of a number of international human rights agreements.

  • Lol @ Chinese teaching world about Human Rights.

  • China can add NDAA to their list

  • love to China from PAK

  • @powerofthroughts

Good Point, that's why the US is imploding and tries to blame all of its problems on China

  • The report forgot to mention historically the 20 million Africans that died during the Atlantic slave trade and slavery in the US.

The report also forgot to mention the millions of native Americans that died due to European diseases and savage treatment from Americans.

  • Why is there so many anti-American Americans here? Do you think criticizing your own country will exempt you in the minds of the Chinese? I guess the word "treason" isn't in anybodies vocabulary anymore. But it is in the dictionary of the Chinese (in their language of course). I'm sure they'd put you in a prison factory making things for the world with absolutely no pay or compensation for speaking bad about the motherland of China.

  • Hmmm, America ended slavery in 1850, while China supposedly ended slavery in 1910. But China has new allegations of slavery in 2009 to 2011. Chinese are in Zambia and Congo, paying $3 a day for poor people to work in cholera infested waters to recover metal deposits. And then how about the one child law? If you don't have money, you got to get rid of it. And the way they dispose the dead is horrible. Harvesting their organs and selling them.

  • Ethnic groups get along better in USA than they do in China
