Clicker training is the training method used in the Pawsitive Start Program at the Michigan Humane Society which has a two-fold objective: first, to reduce stress on dogs and cats that can result from being in a kennel environment, and second, to build up their "brain muscle," or problem-solving ability.
"Pepper" is showcased in this video as he learns to target the easy button, just one of the training exercises included in the program. Fortunately, Pepper was able to show the progression from the beginning of the learning process through the complete behavior. The special message of this video is that all pets, especially those waiting for their forever home, have the need for special attention and deserve the chance to learn.
