I managed to salvage a video of the old startup which the PS3 had before the 3.00 update and i recorded the new startup. Notice that the new startup doesnt say "Playstation 3" in spiderman font at the end anymore =(. Also i added a vid of the wave on its own. Enjoy

  • i miss being able to have a black background :(

  • It's just the same, the only difference is the Newer it has the PS3 Logo instead of Sony Computer Entertainment logo in the startup and the song is a little bit more longer than the new one. That's it

  • I love the style of the PS3... with the strange flowing object in the background and the game startup of the PS3 fat

  • Personally I prefer the new one much more.

    Dunno why, I just do.

  • @miracle18th I love PS3 (60 gig model) Xbox 360 slim Sega Genisis AND the Nintendo 64.

  • It is true that the newer one doesn't say "Playstation 3" in Spiderman font, but the new one DOES say "PS3" at the beginning. The old one just says "Sony Computer Entertainment".

  • @tutubrain Oh okay then. I was only wondering and thanks for replying back too. I was just curious about what would happen if you did try to insert a PS2 game disc inside a non-backwards compatible PS3 and also about why the option of creating PS2 Internal Memory Cards is still present even on the current PS3 models. I was just wondering. That option though to create PS2 Internal Memory Cards on the PS3's HDD would really be useless though since PS2 games don't work on current models of the PS3.

    1. No, nothing will happen if you insert a PS2 disk into a non backwards compatible PS3 system. It will show up under the 'Game' icon in the XMB but wont be recognised as a game, just a DVD as I recall.

    2. The reason the tool to create PS2 Internal Memory Cards is present on all PS3 systems is simply because of firmware. The hardware in the BC PS3's use the firmware to create the memory. Sony would have to create bespoke firmware for each BC PS3 which would take alot of time.

  • The PS3 is the best and it's one of the greatest video game systems ever created so far. It's so awesome and the PS3 is already one of my favorite game systems ever. I currently own two PS3 consoles. I have an old 80 GB PS3 with the PS2 backwards compatibility feature and I have the 160 GB PS3 slim console. I had to end up getting a whole new PS3 console because for some reason, my PS3 games won't start up and play correctly now on my old PS3. So I just decided on getting a new PS3 instead.
