Celebrating Dorset Muslim Communities

Dorset Police staff encouraged local Muslims to report hate crime at a special event in Bournemouth yesterday, Sunday 25 April 2010.

Dorset Police made this appeal at the 'Celebrating Muslim Communities' event at Kinson Community Centre which was run by Dorset Race Equality Council.

The event was designed to bring together public services and voluntary agencies with Muslim communities from Dorset.

The event saw demonstrations of Indian culture with children singing the Nasheed and a demonstration of Saris from the Dorset Bengali Association.

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service arrived in a fire engine and displayed their fire and rescue equipment. They also provided a fire safety talk giving important information about fire prevention and alarms.

It was a great opportunity for local people to meet these agencies in an informal setting.
