What do you do when you want to stop:O

i bought inline skates solely to exercise my husky... i didn't realise skating was so difficult.

@crabtrap Thanks for your advice buddy. I just wish I could spend more time with these kind of dogs. My friend's guide dog which is a lab but mixed. always gets destracted with other dogs. she would bark her head off or be like in an attack mode. I've learn how to handle that behavor. she is a med size dog but loves to pull hard that you think she is gonna break your arm right off. My friend and I still work on her. she doesnt like it when other dogs get too close.

@Sharky58 a good substitute for a husky that is more calm and less"independent" is an Alaskan malamute.they look very similar to huskies but are larger and stronger and a bit more mellow.but good luck

@crabtrap thanks for your concern. I'me still looking for a husky. I've seen one being trained as a hearing dog so that is my proof I need. Of course I was ridiculed but that wont stop me. Since when can I have a chance to spend time with these beautiful huskies when I dont have a friend who has some I can test them. Well I can think of a million ways to burn off their energy.

@Sharky58 I know this is a year old post but ,i hope you have reconsidered getting a Husky for a guide dog;they are easily destracted by other animals (strong prey instinct) and can be quite unruley if not giving much exersize(that means running NOT just dog walks). i have had many huskies and i can tell you using them as guide animals is dangerous for you and them.

lol ya, i want to do this with my Siberian Husky BUT i fear i will suffer that same fate ;) ....doesnt mean i wont try it sometime tho hehe

Aaand 1:24 is why I wont do that with my huskies xD I'm not too brave eh.
Great Huskies! My 5 year old Husky doesn't have the energy/stamina to do this, but my 3 year old Husky/Doberman mix could easily be taught to do this when I start training my newest 3 month old Husky in a few months. BTW, beautiful dogs :)

We still rollerblade with them and they are 81/2 years old now. But we've switched to other activities also because the asphalt roads and bike paths are hard on their paws. So now we ski-jor in the winter . It's basically cross-country skiing with the dogs pulling you, while you wear a special belt. We also bike-jor with our mountain bikes. We made a joust looking attachment with some PVC pipe attached to the bike. It is very fun especially at night with headlamps. I'll try to post them soon.

Very Cool.. I rollerblade with 2 Huskies as well. I like your harnesses much better than what I'm using. One of my Husks hates his harness so I go with a collar. We average 4-5 miles a skate.. How far do your guys go? Thnx for the vid!

When we skate we go about 3-4 miles. When we go skijoring (Using cross country skis instead of rollerblades) we go between 3-5 miles. We had switched to a different style harness, an X back, but they seem to like the original long distance harness better. We bought both from Canadog. We have also started bikejoring, which is hooking up a dog to pull a mountain bike. They love it! I'll have to get my new helmet cam out and upload some of our latest adventures. Thanks.
