@zeroXcuber I agree preware saves this phone I had one for five months but I had to get an android phone. Web OS is smooth but with no flash, skyfire or opera I couldn't take it. It was when the Verizon guy told me it wouldn't be upgraded to 2.0 that I bought a Fascinate. People talk about how slow android's OS is but I never found it to be I think it depends where you live, then some people expect their phones to be lightning quick.

@zeroXcuber you'll probably have more problems with android. android is just a slow os overall. the reason is that android runs in a virtual machine, which is a kind of hardware emulation. the release of the JIT compiler in 2.2 helped, but it still isn't all that fast. my brothers HTC Droid Incredible (1 GHz/512 MB RAM) performs on about equal ground with my Pre in Gameloft games. i used to have an armv6 android device...two actually, the os would lag without anything running.

@EjayWynn feb 9 new palm webOS phones ok? so be glad yur upgrade is then

I currently have the HTC Hero, it is the worst phone ihave had. it lags terribly, the messages will not erase without having to reset the phone, you get force close all the time, text messages lag, over all not the best phone=/ im looking for a Palm Pre until next febuary when i can upgrade.

My hero is so laggy im upgrading to the evo like next month

I've had the palm pre plus for verizon for about 5 months now, and I hate it. First of all without the hacks the phone would be unbearable, a program called preware uses the open source capabilities of webos (which is a great OS, but with no dev support really, hardly any apps) and I can install many features that smartphones commonly have now. The phone is based on linux and java so I see potential but until I can install android on it I won't really be happy :( webos wont survive.
I personally think the pre is a REALLY nice phone. i have one myself. and i am enjoying it =D but idk if i would say its better than the HTC because i never owned one of those. i owned a lot of phones uncluding the iphone and the palm pre is by far the best cell phone i ever had.

Palm Pre runs on what is currently the best smartphone system- Palm WebOS. Try it out for a week and you won't be able to live without it.
The HTC is clunky and outdated by comparison.
