You write a check, the money leaves the account the next day. But you deposit a check, it could be a week before you get the credit. Is it fair? Uncle Sam seems to think so.

  • Never deposit anything at ATM. Use teller inside or drive-in teller. Make sure you get the bank slip (transaction) from real teller. Double check the bank slip before leaving the teller. Any item that deposit at ATM can take one to ten days to credit the account. I caught them one time when the teller try to cash credit my account in 3 days instead of this posing night. Any outside check will and it will take longer to credit the account. Just remember, double check the bank slip from teller.

  • It depent on where the check come from. One time, my deposit check (local payroll) was on hold for 7 days. It happen again and I show the lawyer letter to teller and refuse to accept. I file against the bank and won (2 + 1 +2).(first 2 is my pay and bank paid my one payroll and bank paid 2 payroll to lawyer). Bank lost 5 payroll cost. :-)
