  • By the way...I like it too, get out what old hardware can run...I tested a year ago an old Notebook with an non MMX 1st-gen Pentium, 150MHz 48MB EDO-RAM 2GB HDD how Win2000 runs...what it brakes down is the low RAM but it works fine till the RAM runs out. :) Its like an Williamate 1st-gen Pentium4 Celeron 1,7GHz with Vista...you can use that CPU with a good GPU and fast HDD as game PC but don´t use MediaPlayer...it will be the only running prog when used and this with low speed vids, music run.

  • Yeah, totally agree, i got a Willamette P4 1,5ghz it's not bad, overclockable to 1,725mhz or something, but it lacks cache and media support build-in....

  • Hy, i have the same question as bluedawn249 9 months bevor...can you tell me wath the song is called?

  • @ferencproject lol yup.

  • @MrTpengineer I don't like Ubuntu too, it usually works as slow as a snail. Ubuntu is a piece of cr*p IMO.

  • Don't get Ubunu! you will regret it even if the specs are above minimum! My pentium 3 ran xp just fine until I installed Ubuntu, now it won't stop freezing :(

  • a samsung wave is faster!!!

  • I have the computer that boards out of! lol check out my p3 system @ jmdawson(dot)co(dot)uk

  • @GeforcerFX I think if you benchmarked them with cpu only benchmarks you would find a different story.

Even the Core 2 line is only about 1GHz faster clock for clock, I.E. a 2GHz Core 2 about equals a 3GHz Pentium 4 on single core applications. Seeing how the Core architecture is faster than the P6 architecture of the Pentium 3 clock for clock I don't see how a 1.4GHz tutlian is faster than a 2GHz faster p4.

Those tutlian p3's were great and were so fast the early Pentium 4's weren't needed!

  • @GeforcerFX Yes and that's great, too bad 2GHz P4's are considered slow. Try that Tualatin vs a 3.6GHz P4.

The whole point of the P4 was very high clock speed to achieve performance.

Also Conroe and Wolfdale processors whoop the Pentium 3, I know it's irrelevant but so was your post =)

  • my p 3 project is

    1.10 GHz

    512 mb ram

    64 mb videocard

    wi-fi

im use it as a server pc

  • YAY!I made this comment with my old pentium iii running at 1ghz. I can still do some websurfing with this old machine.

    Specs:

    1ghz pentium iii

    512 mb ram(2 pc133 256 rams)

on board 32 mb intel video ram

    40 gb seagate barracuda

  • Damn I love reading discussions about Athlon-era stuff. These new CPUs are all the same. Me, I went with a Tualatin til 2005.
