Fiat Coming to North America!

Its official, the Fiat 500 is coming to both Canada and The States this year October.

Here's some info based on the 500:

(CAN) PRICE: $19,500 est.

ENGINE: 1.4L I4

POWER/TORQUE: 100 hp/97 lb.-ft.

FUEL ECONOMY: 7.24 L/100 km EU combined est.

COMPETITION: Mini Cooper, Honda Fit, Ford Fiesta, Volkswagen Polo

@chadwick1002 The fact is that the other 90% of the American people prefer huge pickups and SUV with 5.0 L petrol engine rather than small cars with low engine displacement, low consumption and low emission.

So manufacturers are not motivated to export cars that noone in US wants to buy.

For example, the 2011 VW Jetta equipped with 2.0 TDI (140 hp) costs 24095 USD in USA, while in Germany it costs 32000 USD. That's because the US version misses the Multi-link rear suspensions, the electric power steering, the dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission, the satnav, the high quality materials used in the interior of the European version.

@chadwick1002 all the cars that come from Europe are cheaper in the US than in the Old Continent.For example let”s compare the 15500 us dollars in the USA while in Romania base Fiat 500 with less options than in the US market costs 16 234.8 us dollars, in Germany and in Italy the prices are way bigger.A BMW,a Merc,a JAG or even a Porsche is cheaper in US by far than any EU countries market.Your beloved Iphone,Ipad,MacBook , Acer,Asus,Alienware are al least 15-20% cheaper.

We need more European type cars in N.A. The only problem is they bring them here, dumb them down than charge us more money...
