  • So, can you put any sound through an oscilloscope to see the waveform like this?

  • Yes. But an easier way is to use software, like audacity.

  • weirdly kool

Kuitman got me here....have you checked out I'm New - Thru you? you're featured!

  • yes!

    His songs are amazing!

  • gameboy is a square wave isnt it?

  • the gameboy can generate a few different waveforms. It has 2 pulsewave generators, which can output squarewaves, but they don't have to be "square," they can be different widths.

I'm not sure why they don't look square on the oscilloscope. I am boosting the signal a bit with an overdrive pedal, but not distorting it. Also, this is an old oscilloscope, i have no idea if it's calibrated properly. I do know that it's very rare to see a "true" square-shaped wave generated from hardware...

  • Hey , I got the same oscilloscope as you do, awesome.

  • At 2:12 it sounds a bit C64 ish. But at 2:55 that was some awesome stuff! :D

  • These sharp fast rise/ long duty cycle waveforms are killers to HIFI speakers.

  • trip me the fuck out crazy

  • 1:48 sounds just like a small turboprop plane taking off :)
