The Awakening Ballet was performed only once, in 2002 for the opening of The Awakening Museum, a monumental work of art created by Jean-Claude Gaugy. The piece was choreographed by Christopher Fleming, and based on the life and work of the artist.

This sequence features the late Jeremy Lemme, whose strong portrayal of Jean-Claude Gaugy anchored the performance.

  • I had the honor of having a very special friendship with both Jeremy and the love of his life, Jen. We all danced together at Dance Alive and became friends for life. I stood by them when they got married and will forever miss the way you could see into his soul when he danced. THANK YOU to whomever put his here; it helps those of us that loved him, continue to remember him. I miss you Jerm and cherish the times we spent together. Thank you for touching my life the way you did....

  • It is so gratifying to us that those that knew and worked with Jeremy are touched by this video.

    Thank you for viewing!

  • This makes me want to cry. Jeremy danced with my company in the late 80s, early 90s. I miss him.

  • Also some other clips of Jeremy Lemme performing in Awakening if you search YouTube. It was fun to watch them and remember him...

  • He was a great man and a great dancer. He was an inspiration to me as a younger dancer and a great role model. He will be missed.

  • I miss you so much, I will see you in my next life, I love you Nana Badrena

  • I danced with Jeremy in Tulsa back in the early 90's. He was stunning, I always have and always will talk about how unreal he was. To top it off he was a great friend, a really fun person, and although it sometimes seemed he was lost, he wasn't he was just wandering. I hope his newest journey is the best yet. I miss the light that was Jeremy, but the glow still exists inside those of us that had the honor of knowing him.

  • I had the honor to hangout with Jeremy for a few months in 2007-08, but until now, i have never had the Privelege to have seen him dance. the world is certainly missing out on a fantastic person, and heaven has gained a wonderful soul

  • I had the honor to dance with him in 1994. It will be miss. Great artist, very clever and funny. Great guy to tour with

    My condolence to the family.
