  • Did anyone hear him yesterday on Radio4 playing this with Aggers? Wonderful.

  • @tweedy151 Sure did, and a great insight into how he got the idea for Cricketer!

  • Just bought Roy's double CD compilation released a few years ago. This track is one of those that really stand out and this is a marvellous performance. Does anyone know where it was shot? Reidditmot?

For those that want the additional melancholia of the original recording, with the Grimethorpe Colliery Band (goose bumps, but I'm a soft northerner!) , I wouldn't hesitate in recommending his Counter Culture double compliation.

  • @darbykj1 Barbican, London, although it does say in the info..Sorry it's took a year to reply :D

  • How i miss seeing Roy play the Red Lion folk club in Kings Heath Birmingham. Back in the 80's he was there a fair bit, great venue for such a great personal musician.

  • @abbeyofthelema666 I have some stuff from The Red Lion..

  • i will always think of Graham Dilley when ever i hear this song R.I.P.

  • Thanks for postung this clip of such a beautiful piece. I first met Roy in 1980 and his ethos and writing have forged the backbone of my personal integrity

  • roy, cant you come here?

  • @tweedy151 - I most certainly heard this and it brought tears to my eyes thinking of when I went to see Roy Harper in Oxford Town Hall in the mid-70s. Then only a few days later, I heard the sad news that one of my colleagues from those times, and a true gent, has just died. Tears aplenty being shed chez moi and I doubt I'll ever be able to listen to this beautiful song without sobbing buckets.

  • Exquisite, .....simply Exquisite )~

  • I can really hear the influence on the smiths/morrissey towards the end of this track
