  • Uh? C'est quoi le rapport avec l'écriture d'Ivan?

  • Pouquoi t'as pas appelé ça "Yvan Le Terrible" plutôt que "Yvan The Terrible" ?

  • Yvan russiphié ça donne Ivan. C'est plus juste d'écrire Ivan le Terrible.

  • super film the best

  • A mastepiece of a Historical Epic Film. Eisenstein was genius who influenced number of other film-makers.

I prefer "Ivan the Terrible" to "Alexander Nevsky" in terms of dramatism, psychology and empathy. AN is a great battle movie, still a battle movie. ItT is a drama at its best.

  • Looks like Communist propaganda.

  • @Beaumain Mr Stalin liked both person Alexander Nevsky and Ivan The Terrible. The both were very mystic.

  • unforgettable scene !

  • Un chef d'oeuvre!

  • Julien papé was in charge of the decoration, the same artist who taught my mother animation. Small world.

  • "кровожадного зверя деяния твои"

  • @edgar,

films of today are shit indeed, seems the industry has lost its capacity to make good movies with the necessary depth.

  • This film makes clear what 99 percent of films are missing and what shit of films we regularly are watching. Of course it should be whatched with a good sychronisation. With subtitles.you can not get text and pictures and the depth of this film.

  • After a visit to Mosfilm I already corrected my statement about USSR movies. Potemkin is a classic yes but the public appreciating it probably has dwindled to small numbers.

Hollywood is a symbol of commerce yes, and that's the reason why there's no innovation anymore, but that's all around the globe for the lack of spirituality which is needed to produce good movies.

US and the West in general in the past though made good and social movies, e.g. one fit to your country : "the emerald forest".

  • "Didn't have much experience making movies"

That's absolutely untrue. They were not as many as in Hollywood, but USSR did have a movie industry. What about Potemkin? It's still a classic. Most of Hollywood silent movies are lost or forgotten. Hollywood seldom innovate: it's commerce it's about.
