  • listen sorry met fan who loses year after year....no need to hate the legendary Mr. Sheppard...He is not only a yankee treasure but a treasure all throughout sports. Announcing since 1951 at the stadium and still going at age 96 !! For Sheppard fans check out my tribute video to Mr sheppard and the late great organist of the yankees eddie layton .

  • Awesome, that's your video? I saw that about a month before pitchers and catchers reported, and it got me so pumped. You did an amazing job. Your voice was nearly spot on (just a touch higher), and the organ playing was just like I've heard all my life since my first game.

  • 1) As mentioned, this was in the left, and the Creatures are in the right.

    2) Sheppard's legendary voice, which has been called "The Voice of God" is simply magical, but to Met fans, it doesn't have the same feel. You wouldn't understand.

  • 3) Yankee Stadium is an icon, a legend. We don't need to change a thing. However, in this world of luxurious amenities and spacious concourses, to the average fan and most outsiders, the Stadium is behind the times. It must also be mentioned that these luxuries bring in money for the Big Stein. It is not the ballpark itself that is the reason for the change, but the infrastructure, which is squeezed into a small space.

  • Everything else is perfect. Since it would take waaay too much money as Steinbrenner would like to pay to rehab the stadium again, he's just building another one across the street, which is a larger lot with more room to fit more stuff. Therefore, the philosophy of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies to the look, which is a mixture of the pre-rennovation stadium, post-rennovation stadium, and the modern stadiums of today.
