I'm gay and I got over this a long time ago. You just need to accept that catholics and certainly the man who is ought to be the most catholic person of all is not going to promote same-sex relationships and therefore also not same-sex marriages. Don't you think that it would be more controversial if he would say that same-sex marriages are fine? If you are gay or supportive of gays and gay rights, then don't bother to be angry about this, 'cause it will never change......... . . .

It's actually a big part of the Catholic religion to respect homosexuals and to give them the respect they deserve as human beings BUT it goes against our religion AND against nature when homosexuals engage in homosexual acts (sodomy) or when they want to get married. So. Marriage is for families, the pope says. Fine, so now sterile men and women can't get married either, since they can't have a family.
Ok, how about a woman who has had to have her womb removed, as it was going to become a danger to her life? No marriage?
How about a transsexual woman, can she marry?
Marriage is connecting two people in the eyes of god. A real god would approve of any two people together that spread joy to the world, and people can't deny this and make their own rules.
