What are your thoughts on IUDs?
- Would you trust them?
- Is having them placed in the uterus a positive or negative thing in your mind?
- Do you have any personal knowledge about them?
- Why do YOU think not so many people are using it when it's SO effective!?
- Would YOU ever consider using it or having your partner use it? If not, why?

REMEMBER: Always use a condom to protect from STD/Is. Here are tips on proper condom useage. It will up your rate of effectiveness a LOT!

Check the package to ensure it's not torn of damage.

Check the expiration date on the package to make sure it has not expired. (5 Years for latex condoms, 3 years for Nonoxynol-9 coated condoms).

Open the package carefully with your fingers to avoid tearing the rubber.

Condoms will only roll in one direction, so it's important to observe that the rolled ring is on the outside, and not inside of the tip.

Squeeze the tip (nipple) gently with two fingers before placing it on head of the erect penis.

Unroll the condom unto the erect penis, rolling it all the way down to the base of the penis.

If you start unrolling on the wrong side, discard it and get a new one, because the outside is already contaminated with pre-ejaculatory fluids.

Use only water-based lubricants K-Y Jelly, spermicidal gels or creams. Oil-based lubricant will weaken the condom causing it to break.

Use your fingers occasionally during intercourse to check if the ring is still positioned at the base of the penis.

After ejaculation withdraw the penis while still erect.

Hold the ring of the condom firmly against the base of the penis during withdrawal of the erect penis to prevent slippage or leakage.

There should be no genital contact after the condom is removed.

Dispose of the used condom properly. Put it into the trash.

Never flush down the toilet nor save for reuse.

Use a new one for each sexual encounter.

  • right so....i was considering IUD but then you know it might not work or it might go out of place and then not work...and i know that taking pill is guh!!!!ok its a lot of presure on me only being responsible and on time everyday but oh well the cost i've heard about it and then that it might not work it freaked me out.btw i am not fond of O.C i might stop them after a while and switch to condoms

  • @Maritina89 Have you considered options like the Patch or the Ring?

  • @kicesie i am really aware of my body and so The Ring has possible side effect nausea including weight gain...So i guess it makes you fat so you wont get laid anymore.-joke-

And back to the subject about the Patch...Estrogen makes me depressed(the patch contain 60% more estrogen).first pills I was given were combined and during the estrogen-only week I used to cry myself to sleep every night. I stopped mid-pack and change to yasmin

  • @Maritina89 Wow, estrogen typically raises the mood and progestin lowers it. That's strange that you react oppositely. Most people I know who fight depression, the patch is the only thing they can use. But you're right, you have to know your body and listen to it!

SO.... what about the shot or the implant? It's pretty much the most effective and low maintenance....

    ....just pointing out your options.

  • @Maritina89

BTW, I gained weight the month I went off of hormonal birth control. Quite a bit and found out that it's a lot more common than I thought...! So if weight is a concern you might want to take that into account before stopping your bc totally.

(oh and all birth control has the possibility of weight gain, and nausea. it's a matter of finding which ones don't do that for you)

  • @kicesie that makes no sense...How is getting your body off of hormones makes you gain weight?i mean if its not temporary then that's somewhat good and it makes sense...But if it is then why no one warns you about it?why when they introduce you to the Pill don't tell you all that? Also no one told me about the "spotting" and it also affected my sex drive.I am not saying its non-existant but its not the same.I guess that since you got off the pill you had some really bad side affects right?

  • @Maritina89 I never did the pill. I could never be responsible enough to take it the same time of day every single day.

  • i was just wondering if u could have sex when Pregnant

  • I feel like after awhile I would trust it just like tampons lol

  • I don't have one but from reading the comments and being a result of a missed birth control and a teen pregnancy (my mother was 17 and I'm 16) it seems like a pretty decent idea. I understand the whole "it was painful" or "it didn't work out" but in a way, the pill is a bigger commitment. I guess im not the most educated but there's my perspective :)

  • I have the iud and the procedure of placing it in is sorta painful but worth it and guys still wrap it up don't trust a girl unless you committed -3

  • and I didn't want to have sex for a month . I think it works via abstinence.

  • My experience with the IUD, it cost me about $100 dolars, which I was more than happy to pay for. When it came to insetingit the doctor said it was the most hardest IUD he has ever tried doing and it was painful. I went home and was in ALOT of pain, so had a shower, then check to see if everything was alright. and my body was rejecting it and had pushed it half way out. So I had to go back to the Drs, and get it removed. $100 for contraception for a day,....

  • i would still wear a condom.... stds and such
