Thank you very much for this! I've been thinking about becoming a game reviewer (I know, SUCH an original idea :), and if I hadn't watched this, I would've gone in doing everything you just said NOT to do. The only book you mentioned that I've read is On Writing. And to attilagenius94, I appreciate and understand what you're saying, but I actually found it helpful that he kept coming back to his main point. Repetition has always helped keep the basic formula in my head.

@TheKestevon immersion should be the 2nd priority when making a game firstly gameplay mechanics should be the number one priority so a game that lacks immersion is kind of a big deal when reviewing it

reviewers' perceptions today: A game is considered not good if it doesn't offer immersion like FPS,non-linear gameplay and openworld like GTA.

That's the main reason why I hate mainstream shit like most FPS,dumbed-down rpgs today.

I agree with this video, and if the reviewer didn't have an opinion about the game besides listing the gameplay and storyline, it wouldn't be entertaining to watch. And certain genres do appeal to different people. Some might like Zelda 2 more than OoT because they like RPG mechanics more than action/adventure ones. And it's justified for reviewers who like the serie to be critical on games with different mechanics in the same series. Every game has flaws that diehard fans don't want to see.
