I recently visited Africa with my boyfriend Brian Smith and we both flew from Portland, Oregon to Amsterdam them we took another flight to Cape Town, South Africa and spent the first nigh there. The next morning we were off for Windhoek, Namibia and I met the pilots of our flight (Air Namibia) at the coffee shop at the airport and they were very very nice to me and Brian. Later when we were walking towards the airplane to get on board and the pilots wave to us and we did the same to them + big smiles. At the entrance of the main cabin was the nicest flight attendant I have seen and she informed us that the captain wanted to speak to us.

He was very kind and invited one of us to sit at the time of the take off and the landing. Brian asked me if I wanted to sit in the take off because I'm usually scared of the landing and I said: "no, I will experience the landing and overcome my fears" and I did. Brian enjoyed the take off and he said that he liked to feel the speed and flight to the sky was amazing. I believe it.

It was very impressive to arrive to the beautiful land of Namibia and being in the cabin with the pilots but more than that being in "the best seat of the house" as the pilot called it.

it was a great experience.

  • Awesome video!!

  • I've left Namibia on the night flight to Frankfurt (Germany) 7-8.April 1982, never to return to my country of birth. I remember clearly walking to the aircraft which was called ' Soutpanberge' , identification unknown to me. Want to return.

  • Cool! I'm the copilot doing the flight, in the video! :)
