  • in 1909 the Russian Tsar was Nicholas II, not Alexander II

  • It's a shame really, Bucharest has great potential but most people here fail to see that. Still, things have slowly begun to pick up in the past 4 or 5 years, so i'd say we're slowly, slowly getting there.

    Oh and fortunately, those ruins in Lipscani that you mentioned have had their weeds cleaned and have been covered with a thick glass ceiling, complete with illumination. I'm actually surprised they didn't simply decide to dump a truck-load of cement over them 'to get it done faster'!

  • Bucharest has more, more beautiful places like: Victoriei Square, Cismigiu Park, Bordei Park, Herastrau Park, Tineretului Park, Dorobanti avenue, Tei Park and avenue, Operei Park or Opera Park, Cotroceni avenue with beautiful arhitecture and and hundreds of other special places.

    I'm romanian who live in Bucharest and i can say my town is beautiful but has few major problems: garbage, dogs, homeless people on the streets and perhaps the most annoying things: too many banks and casinos, shame!

  • linda ciudad,que esta por entral en europa,y que esta necesitando grandes cambios ,reformas sociales,y derechos humanos entr hotros.

  • there's also the low economy compared to other EU states; but that ties in with government and society, discussed earlier;

    I personally strongly think these highly critical claims that Romanians make of their own country are very exaggerated and utterly wrong; I wish Romanians would appreciate their country and culture more;

  • some countries in western Europe have HUGE fines for littering; if that was enforced in Romania, there wouldn't be so much litter problem like people talk about; so I personally think it's the combination that is the big problem;

    so these kind of things are what make Romanians say things like "we have a great country, too bad it's populated"; so if you see any comment like that or something, now you have some idea of why some Romanians think that...unfortunately it's many, not some; continued

  • inconsiderate of cultural, social or ecological norms; many romanians beleive that many other romanians are uneducated, litter-bugs, incult and disrespectful of culture; personally I don;t think the cult/incult ratio is much worse in Romania than other countries, but with an incompetent government, the incult part does have the potential to show itself more; I mean for example, if like in some countries in western Europe.. continued...

  • that kind of squabbling is just the tip of the iceberg; there far worser aspects of Romanian government, like corruption, embezzlement and generally poor attempts at satisfying many of the people's wishes;

    b) that's really just a joke about the olive on the stick; it may be a memorial to people that lost their lives, but that olive thing is just a simple joke obviously; however, there are cases where the general public seems to be... continued again....

  • to any foreigners watching this video:

    you might hear Romanians being very critical of their country or seeing comments on youtube that sound like Romania's the worst place on earth ; obviously these are exaggerations, but an insight into this general can be given at 03:54 and 14:31; a) the lack of good leadership at governmental level is well illustrated by what the guy said: " while the talks continue the weed continues to grow" (continued in another comment 'cause of lack of youtube space)

  • I'm from Bucharest and I have to say, you grow to hate those stray dogs; REALLY HATE THEM
