No, I guess he doesn't. As for latching on to a 'popular' image, Cars and the associated 'man in black (or orange jump suit)' image was popular - for short while at least 33 years ago so the makers of this video could hardly be accused of latching on to a contemporary popular image! I think the video is a bit tongue in cheek and is flattering because of it.
I guess it's just a matter of taste. I've been a fan of Gary's since the beginning and I must say that in the early nineties I would have shared your view - his music then was pretty poor. I do like his 'new' stuff from Pure (2000) onwards. DSR is far batter than most fans were expecting (considering it was 'just' a 'filler' album). As for this song/video - it's OK. Officers new album is far, far better.
I'm not fooled. Gary Numans arse is never as big as that and Cedric looks as if hes wearing a wig . Thats right I said wig in the same sentence as I said Gary Numan.
Latch on to a popular image... sell a few copies. As far as Gary... press demands he glad-hand it, but let's face it. Do you really think he likes EVERYTHING ascribed to him ?
Even though the vid is a nice homage to the great man's original,it is still far more inventive than the actual song itself!Shame really,as it looks so cool.
No one should ever say that we should all like the same music but it should at least be musical,of course if they can make money good luck to them. Its just to me these people are not talented at all, they cannot sing and offer nothing new either musically or image wise.Gary Numan in his time(80,s)was great but now his stuff to me is crap and I really cannot understand how people can rate this stuff or Gary's new album DSR,it just puzzles me.
sounds like a female jack white.shes definitely a white stripes fan
