In addition, a standard Austronesian orthography would make it easier for people in general to see the relationship of words between various Austronesian languages.

I agree with what you have been saying. In fact, I think that a conference on Austronesian languages should be formed to create a standard "Austronesian orthography". The macron, the glottal stop, and certain accent marks should also be added to that standard orthography in order to make it easier to pronounce and spell words properly. For example, Mindanao. In Polynesian orthography, it could be spelled as Mindanau. In Tagalog and Bahasa, Mindanaw.
