@TPTTLA I had no problem booting from my BackTrack5 live CD using my i3 system. Are you sure it's that computer and not the CD itself? Try using the CD on another computer and see if that solves the problem.

@LongTimeNoSeeProd Both are good it's just a matter of taste. I use both. I find gnome faster even with KDE visuals set to minimum.

Backtrack needs to make the codes more understandable. I can't understand these wierd codes. It's like you're blind firering with a rifle. You just don't know what you're doing.
-
How did you get the the first part in the biggining? I just downloaded the "backtrack 5 R1" with KDE, 64,Iso, direct. Is that the wrong download?

@epyemelianenko Let me guess, it's virus (no doubt a windows binary at that) that you feed out to wannabe script kiddies so you can expand your botnet... which somebody else probably wrote for you.
Well now that I think of it that's just fine because anybody that ignores the unparalleled power of CLI and severely cripples themselves by relying on do-nothing paint by the numbers programs instead of knowledge, is just a tool for others to use anyway.
h i there can you give me some idea why bt gnome will not boot up on my new i3 laptop it just keeps on freezing up thanks TT

@TPTTLA
Are you running it from a LiveCD or Bootable USB? Are you running the 64bit or 32bit? I recommend running it from a bootable USB.

@TPTTLA
I am not sure what problems Bactrack has with the I3. Unfortunately, I don't have one to try it on to see what the problem is.

how do i change the resolution in gnome when i am running it in oracle vm box on a macbook pro 2011?

@utkarshshah92
If you look through my videos I have one on changing the screen resolution on Backtrack 4 R2. First make sure you have the guest additions installed and then I would recommend a restart of the OS. You can use the command xrandr from the terminal. If you just type the command and hit enter it will list available screen sizes and your current resolution. You can use the -s option with the resolution to set it.
