My recitation of this poem by William Wordsworth
The Daffodils
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed - and gazed - but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon the inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils

  • Beautiful, I was really touched by your reading. Many thanks.

  • thank you, i much appreciate your kind comments, and am glad you too love Wordsworth's poems. cheers ! :-)

  • I second what RockOfDesire says below. You have a gift. Does it come from being Older and Wiser? If so, the years have given you much, despite what pain you may have suffered - or suffer. You have the look of One Who Knows.

  • thank you very much for your very encouraging words .. i am indeed touched by your observation about the pain i have suffered . but then all of us have our shares of pains and happiness and they have a tendency to balance out in the long run .. and i wish i could say i know .. ( sigh ) there is so much to know .. so much ... so much ! and just one life time... running out fast !

  • That was a pure joy to listen to:-) A wonderful, heartfelt renditon and such a mellow voice as well. Thank you for sharing :-)

  • thanks for the encouraging remarks.. i really value it !

  • Not bad - but if I am to be really critical - I remind you all - that this is a very happy (albeit melancholic) poem. The trick is to get the balance between happiness and melancholy right. You lean toward the latter but that's fine.

  • Nice reading.
