  • Even then, everyone who heard it had to sing. Play this, anywhere in America, at any time, and people tend to join in. And then, there's a lot of smiles, followed by a kind of wistful silence. Plenty of profound music being made today; lots of shite, too. But there's no denying the zeitgeist and gravity in this deceptively-bouncy little ditty.

  • the day the music died = the day music begins the downfall, early 2000's and probably earlier. I hate music these days... 70's-80's ftw... and I was born in 1997...

  • i couldn't agree more but this song is about buddy holly's death and i was born in 1998 im glad to know there's more then 1 person who actually enjoys real music
