I remember the very first time I saw the Eagle. It was in July 1994 at the Portland Airport in Portland, Oregon. I was 12 at the time and a huge Goodyear Blimp fan. The last time I saw the Goodyear blimp prior to the Eagle was the Columbia.

This video was shot at the christening ceremony and one of the other blimps in the formation on my video was the retiring Eagle. The 4 ships toured the area for a while before the Spirit of America returned to its California base in Carson.

Very nice job. I stood right under the SOA not long after this in Carson. I usually try to make it out that way a couple times a year since it's only about a 40 mile drive. It's a truly impressive ship.

It was a fun event. My friend Chris and I drove out from NYC to be there to see all 4 ships fly at the same time. There's nothing like a brand spankin' new blimp! I was quite fortunate to have hangar privileges, but then again, many of the crew members and pilots are like family to me.
