Linda Reichel realized her life-long dream of owning a restaurant when she opened The Rance Cafe 2 months ago. She needs to sell food--as well as coffee--so she can make enough money to keep her doors open.
Thurston County has been on the lookout for what they call "menu creep"--that's when business owners like Linda increase their menu without Thurston County's permission.
Now, Thurston County will not work with Linda and let her add menu items. She has already been forced to layoff her only employee and faces the real possibility of losing her business.

As you can see from a couple of the follow-up videos, the Thurston County Commissioners and their health department - at their direction - just don't care. We are finding a lot of businesses that Thurston County is chasing out of our community. Linda is in the process of setting up this business right now in Pierce County - just across the border because they will allow her to run a business.

This is sickening. What right do they have to say what a restaurant can serve? Is the county rolling in tax dollars that they can keep closing businesses? What a bunch of ideological, power crazy nuts! We have to keep fighting the creep, and creeps, of governement.

I guess we're looking for new Commissioners... Have we given these elected folks the power to determine what's on a menu? Food Gestapo? Are we calling them Food Creeps? What was that? I suggest you close the doors to the public and open a PRIVATE members only food club. I'll join.
