The sweet sounds of AM radio...

Just imagine they were selling these cars new during the gas crisis and he's right, they can't do much better than 10-11 MPG under any circumstances. Imagine lots of them stood in Jimmy Carter's gas lines!

IT'S A 78 YOU MORONS!!! 78 WAS THE LAST YEAR OF THE BIG BIG BIG FORDS. THIS CAR HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE LTD, WITH WAS SMALLER AND HAD SQUARE HEADLIGHTS. SHEEESH!!!!
-
The full size LTD was available in base/brougham/Landau from 75 -78. base models had round headlamps brougham/Landau hidden headlamps. The LTD II was mid size car based on Torino/cougar chassis. in 1977 ford removed most chrome trim and the Landau hood ornament, replaced with standard ornament to save money. in 1977 Ford also revised speedometers to read up to only 85 in an effort make you slow down and save fuel. in 77 all power options became stand alone. made for many unusual optioned cars.

OK - Yes, upon further investigation - the car is def. a 1978. I will concede.
We had a 1977 LTD II (which was based on the Torino) - She had square headlites - hoever not stacked - all horizontal.
Epic fail on my part.
Enjoy.

False. This is not a 1978... well maybe in USA - Our 1977 Ford LTD Landau - had twin STACKED SQUARE headlights, dog. 1976 was the last year for roundies.
Someone changed the dash-board in your ride - to one that had fewer miles on the odometer...That's what's messin' 2000cinders up. She's all 1976. If the gear selector is silver - with a silver knob..enjoy - she might even be older than that.

@rexy5 Round headlights were used on all LTDs through the 1978 model year with the later ones enclosed in flip up headlight covers. The smaller redesign LTD in 1979 had the square headlamps, which was basically a Crown Victoria

The LTD looked pretty much the same from 1976 to 78. A smaller Torino-based LTD II was produced for '77 and '78. The LTD we see here has a smaller 85 mph speedometer. I think these speeders were mandated in 1977.
someone put a 3rd brake light on that?
