Many good-intentioned believers are working very hard to bring unity to the church. But the gospel reality is that we are already in union - both with God and one another. Christ's body is undivided - and we are all part of that mystical entity. This week, John Crowder teaches on church unity from the perspective of the finished work of Christ. • (cont'd)...community. It concerns me while listening to your video if I'm doing the wrong thing by doing such a thing as not accepting sacraments (from homosexuals). I feel that I have been trying to protect myself spiritually (I know the language here sounds like self-effort, it's the only way I can put it). But would this be considered "religious"? I've also defended different (unpopular) points of mine in classes on many topics...would my defense be "religious"? Just trying to understand.

  • @cjadream7 Sounds like the age old question of sacramental efficacy in the early church and the debate over "ex opere operato." Does a sacrament remain valid (baptism, marriage, etc.) if the sanctity or orthodoxy of the minister is in question (started with the Donatists as the church wondered whether people's baptisms were valid if the minister performing it was a whacko). The general belief in the church is that yes, the sacrament is valid as a tangible grace of Christ - despite ...

  • @cjadream7 (cont'd pt 2) the state of the minister performing it - as long as the recipient is receiving it in faith. It is between Christ and the recipient. However, as to your specific situation as it relates to the corporate group - you'll need to hear from the Lord personally and let your conscience be your guide. I can't be your magic eightball on that one ... LOL Do you feel that continued participation is a passive endorsement or an advocacy of an improper lifestyle - considering that ...

  • @cjadream7 (cont'd pt 3) these are ministers? Or is it a way to express love and community in a way that will bring life and light? I dunno ... it's a tougher call when it's a leader endorsing sin, rather than a congregant or simply someone who disagrees with it, yet personally struggles with it. Hopefully this narrows the question at least for you: it's not so much the validity of the sacrament you're dealing with, as much as the perception of advocating the open sin of the minister. ... Cheers

  • Ch _ _ ch. What's missing?

  • I think it is far more difficult to see Christ in the church than in the "secular" world. Why is that? It is almost as though, when you call yourself a Christian, there is a much higher standard I hold you to. There's an expectation of certain kinds of behavior or understanding, and it seems like the unsaved or young in the Lord manifest heaven better through their ignorance than those who are older in the Lord through their frivolous studies and own understanding.

  • Does you wife and you agree on the finished work of the cross or can you marry someone that does not believe the same as you but is a believer?

  • [con't part 3]

Now i know that I must deal with that Religious Spirit as well?

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

    Wow.

    ****URGENT*****

Brother, Where did you get that communion BREAD from???

That kind is soooooo much better than using Saltine Crackers.

    thanks

  • [CON'T 2]

I always wondered why, sitting with them going through the Bible, I would be so frustrated and annoyed that I'd be physically uncomfortable. Furthermore I'd picture MYSELF leading them, thus dishonouring the leader there.

Now I know that, according to what you say in this video, I was dealing with a Religious Mindset! At first I thought it was only pride,

so today, before I even watched this vid, God was dealing with me on cultivating a heart of HUMILITY.

  • I must say:

I have received so much from this short message. B/c I'm "with the program" in terms of spiritual maturity, and I know so much about the "glory realm' and all the Supernatural Goodies &Shubabumba's of Jesus,

I never wanted to participate in the gatherings on my university campus because they seem so 'dry' and I always thought, "these people don't know as much as I do. They need to watch Extreme Prophetic or Sid Roth or something"

  • WOW!!!! I'm blissed out and rebuked at the same time!!! Hahahahahah! Humility is so much more joyfull! I will remember that. Thanks John! :)

  • Man I never get tired of the message of our union with Christ on the cross ! It is an endless supply of bliss ! Where did you get the big ucharist ?

  • @SonsofThunderPub Yeah, I understand! Definitely helped...I was just thinking too about what I mentioned before about "transferring"...perhaps that's a fear (?), but as Christians we simply have no reason to.

  • @SonsofThunderPub Oh okay...That makes sense about it being between Christ and the recipient. I've been cautious b/c I've heard of "transferring of spirits", but I have not found any scriptural basis for it...not even sure of it's derivation now that I think about it lol. I guess I was also thinking about those who aren't saved and covered under Christ's blood. And yes, another reason I stopped was due to passive endorsement (b/c it would seem as if I had no care about who's in leadership).
