  • i cant beliave that if someone wanted that to happen i wouldent do it if they paid me i cant stand the though of people dieing because of me!

  • i know, i wouldn't be able to cope, i would just end up throwing my self off a bridge ot a cliff

  • thank you i cant believe someone can do that if i knew that person i would put there feet i cement and jus make them stand there for 2 years

  • i would cement them there, and just starve them to deth, and everything

  • 1 track worker has been arrested by railway police in the last 5 days. Looks like bolts and spreaders were missing from a set of points which had recently been worked on. The accident was in Cumbria on the West Coast line between London & Glasgow the route of the Royal Scot

  • thank you for the update

  • it was a missing section of track at some points...

but what i think people need to remember is...what would have happened had this been in a set or MkII or III coaches...it would have been MUCH worse, although I don't like these trains (like many others) they are still the safest...

  • quick question, has railtrack or whatever it is called that maintainsts the track, did they get slapped with a massive fine???

  • Poor City of Glasgow!

  • I think the driver got a new job with Virgin Atlanctic Airlines

  • Mission IMPOSSIBLE- Now the Pendolino mission looks to be hopeless and going nowhere near the possibility dreamed about.

  • Speed doesn't kill, its the sudden impact that does....

I'm sticking to 115km/h max freight trains....

  • 'Zactly what I thought. Amazing that the coaches stayed intact. Imagine if it had been Mk 1s or pre-nationalisation stock? Mind you I like the ride in Mk 2s best. You can see out of the windows and above the seats in front. So they are not claustrophobic like most trains these days... due to high seat backs.

  • Ive heard the joke about this, apparently it was caused by a asian, the driver was asked if he was on the tracks, to which he replied,

" No, he was in the field, but i still got the basterd"

Sad and insentive to the families who suffered i know, but not my personal opinion.

  • man, i remember reading this in the newspaper...when i was a younger enthusiast, i was horrified about the pendolino.

  • It was a missing stretcher bar on the set of points just before the curve which caused the train to be pushed up off the rails as both the point rails were in the closed position so the train "jumped" and derailed. Bearing in mind this was on a highly banked corner while travelling at nearly 90mph, the safety and strength of the train has to be admired. but any train is only as good as the track it runs on, hence why these & the class 91s are still limted to 125mph instead of their 140mph max.
